MCM offers a wide range of services internationally supporting a range of governments, NGOs, regulators and implementers. Please see below, details of these services.

Protection of people and the environment from the harmful effects of ionizing radiation is at the core of everything we do. We support our clients to achieve this through Environmental Safety Case preparation, coordination and management in accordance with international and national regulations. We work in support of nuclear facility operators and the regulatory expertise function and offer high quality technical authors and independent review across a broad range of specialist radioactive waste management and radiation protection areas. This includes scenario development, FEP (feature, event and process) management, uncertainty management, data elicitation, and issues management.

Our geoscience specialists support siting of nuclear facilities, covering the planning and execution of programmes for identifying and evaluating repository sites through to, application of site descriptive models and directing detailed rock characterisation activities. We provide a range of probabilistic hazard assessments and tools to incorporate and manage uncertainties in the assessment and decision making processes. We have a strong applied and academic record and directly support several national Radioactive Waste Management Research Development & Demonstration (RD&D) Programmes and the provision of independent review, steering and oversight.

We provide technical assessment of the engineering implementation approaches specifically developed for disposal solutions at different levels of maturity. We regularly support clients to evaluate feasibility or practicability issues related to novel engineered components and operational methods. This includes operational scheduling, post-emplacement monitoring strategies, nuclear safeguards and security, cost modelling and bench marking, technology baseline and readiness assessment, and supporting plans for testing and demonstration exercises / prototype experiments at full-scale.

Our functional specification and conceptual design services focus on safety-integrated design basis development, which is required by the UK nuclear regulator. We support organisations with Design Authority responsibility and specialise in options studies for selecting appropriate disposal systems for a broad range of host rocks and classifications of radioactive waste. We have excellent systems and process engineering capability that incorporates both the derivation and management of requirements. We manage complex requirements databases and documents, both at a stakeholder and system level, and are able to produce high quality requirement sets with accompanying satisfaction arguments showing rich traceability.
